Hi,Peter. Thanks for your message.

The book'The Alchemist'you love sounds way cool. I wish I could go get one immediately but I`m kind of broke right now. Can you tell me a little more about it? I mean, the story?

With the book`PREY`,actually I don`t get it yet. I can only say it`s just about nonotechnology, artificial inteligence and stuff like that. I`m not sure about this.

Can I ask a question? Have you ever been in an english-speaking country or something? Your English sounds decent. I don`t mean to say anything bad about so-called Juken Eigo education, but it doesn`t seem you`ve got a grasp of the language through it. Otherwise you`ve got that on your own?

Today after school me and my friends made some cheesecakes. Hardly any of us knew how to make it as hell,so we asked a teacher and she was wicked! All the cheesecakes were really scrumptious.

I guess that`s all. See ya.

This story is about an shepherd boy who travels in search of a tresure buried in the Pyramids and meets some fantastic strange people. From this boy you will get dreams and courages,I assure you. Words in this story are not so difficult that you can read this without dictionarys.Off course that's why I could read this entirely, lol. Once you start reading, you will find yourself absorbed in this story! Why don't you check this out!

What's parallel universes-back? Is it a world whose existance we don't confirm?

I've got interested in Micheal Crichton.http://www.google.co.jp/search?q=Michael+Crichton&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=ja&lr
I've never read any foreign book, Timeline may be my first foreign book.

Hello,Monar!Thank you for your response. Do you remember me? You wrote to me on 5/2. I just hope you do.

Well,I thought his book "Timeline was the best".(my favorite author is Micheal Chricton) The theory of travelling to parrallel universes- back in time through Quantum Physics,I found it very interesting and believable. And such harsh adventure characters go through to get back home was amazing. This is a must.

My all time favorite is Sphere. This is also written by Michael Crichton.

If you are interested, just check it out.

So,what are your favorites,Monar?

You should make efforts not an excuse.

I can't describe my thoughts as well in English as in Japanerse. Though it's natural in general, it's regrettable that I can't describe my thoughts in English directly. Necessarily I describe my thoughts in Japanese, then translate them into English. It's possible for me to do directly in case of easy compositions, but almost impossible in case of difficult ones such as ones on this board.

If you mean "independent" by the word "free", what the word "practice" means?
And what the word "it" means? "The board written in English" or "The purpose of this board"?

I comprehended that you want to say the word "free" means that "kill time" or "pass laisure hours". Then, what are you practicing?
I can't understand that free chatting has some goal to attain.
Generally speaking, people practice to achieve something worth. Does free chatting contain something worth to attain?

I guess what you want to say.
The aim of this board is to practice English through chatting. You can write any kind of things on this board but should write in English.

Hello. I'm glad to find that the BBS where we write in English has been made. I thank Mr.Universe very much. Because this BBS is so nice that it will enter Attention Conference Room soon, and reach main contents(maybe).

I know it is very difficult to correct one's mistake in English.
Ummm....Are you good at English, phoocho? Anyway, your suggestion is very good!

Sorry, it's an idle talk, but you mean the comic "the last weapon my girlfriend"?
I have read it too, but it was too negative to me espesialy the last volume.

My remark at 27 may confuse Universe (500).

I said
>>it is difficult even if it talks in Japanese.
>"That is difficult even in Japanese."
>The words "even if" imply "won't come true".

You can use "if (or even if)".
But the mention "if it talks" is wrong.
"talks" -> "shold be written"
I think the words "even if" are too strong.

>The subject about which you are speaking is difficult for me.
"The subject is difficult." <-- Strange.
You may say "What you are speaking is difficult."

>it is difficult even if it talks in Japanese.
"That is difficult even in Japanese."
The words "even if" imply "won't come true".

The subject about which you are speaking is difficult for me.
Probably, it is difficult even if it talks in Japanese.

[25] (無題) 投稿者:phoocho (2003/03/05(水) 21:58 yahoobb218183072080.bbtec.net)
President Bush will attack Iraq because The U.S is on a mission to give all men and women freedom. The U.S economy may fall. A stall of economy may cost Presidnet's position.

Make reference to the North Korea crisis, Japanese government now examine to halt capital movement between Japan and North Korea. Japanese Yen is necessary to support North Korea's economy. So the announcement of the Japanese government shocks the North Korea. North Korea cannot do anything without Japanese product. North Korean use Japanese macinery to Construct of militaly base.

China won't allow North Korea to have nuclear weapon.

Thanks!phoocho.I'm in favor of your excellent suggestion.

Yesterday I saw the news of an American grasshopper being chased by North Korean fighter planes over the sea of Japan.
I'm getting more and more to lose sight of what North Korean think about their outer world.
And this case seems to have snapped Bush's patience.
He will perhaps attack North Korea after Iraq, which I'm against, though.
What do you all think about it?

By the way,I'm he,not she. This name comes from a popular comic which I have read and was moved.

One vote for "headlines of world news".
I bet it would be good for us university examinees and students (I'm eager to be the latter one within a month) to know about the world in which we live, as M?.phoocho said.
Also, the topic would change one after another and we'd never run out of it.

[22] (無題) 投稿者:phoocho (2003/03/04(火) 21:28 yahoobb218183072046.bbtec.net)
Not a few Japanese student has same suffering - English -.

-What is the best suitable topic for this BBS?-

I think "headlines of world news" is the best. The topic requires as many vocabulary as most of exams does.

The second best topic I think is "localitis."
When I visited Tohoku region, they asked me whether I like north. I answerd I like south because I like hot climate. Then all of them said "I love north. I cannot survive in south."

The third best topic is "English in Japan."
Japanese use strange English. I caught a sight of a sign board "womens", "mens", even "ladies." What they sell at the store?

And last, how about "radio (English)?"

This is a very nice conference room.
I've ever longed such a thing.
It's a pity, however, that there is no specific subject to discuss.
If you,Universe, choose what to talk, then a lot of people will join this conference,I think.

>Where is bad?

You should use "It is because" instead of "It is why".
Otherwise, the cause and effect are quite reverse.

Besides, maybe the sentense "Where is bad?" is not correct, either.
You should use "What is bad?" instead.

To write and to correct English will do us good.
I think everyone can be a teacher and student at once.
So let's correct each other!

>OK! But...I want a teacher who corrects our mistake of Engishi.
Otherwise, our English ability isn't develop.
How do you think it?

Hmm... Something strange.
"I want a teacher"
It seems that you want A TEACHER. Can you buy teachers? I advice you to use the word "need" instead of "want".
"English ability is develop."
Of course this sentence is strange. In correctkly
"My English gets better."

By the way what is "Englishi".

>But I think...I'd like to go to Australia and Europe.

Do you want to go to both of Australia and Europe?

>It is why,I'd like to see koalas and kangaroos.
"It is why" I think this sentence has an error.

Un...There is nothing especially.
But I think...I'd like to go to Australia and Europe.
It is why,I'd like to see koalas and kangaroos.
They are in Australia.
And,Europe have very beautiful scene.

I have an opinion.. I think we should not care how good our english is. Not all the people can speak so good english as natives, you know. let's just talk as much as we can. :)

well I've got a question for you guys.

Is there any particular country that you really wanna go if you have any chance?

As for me, I'd love to go Mexico if I have chance. I have some friends in there and Im very interested in South America. (Im going to learn French in University though)

This is the conference room discussed in English.
Mr. HARUKI had proposed it. And I wanted too.
So I made.

(英語で話す会議室です。ハルキさんが提案していたし、私も欲しかったので作りました。)
